How is our Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil Made?

Our organic coconut oil is made like no other. It’s cold-pressed from freshly dried coconut flesh. This is the process we use to produce our premium virgin coconut oil:

  1. The fresh coconuts are opened and grated.
  2. We then dehydrate the grated coconut at low temperatures, drying the coconut into crisp flakes.
  3. These flakes are then "pressed" to yield a delicious oil that contains many of the nutrients and flavors of the fresh coconut.
  4. The final step is to clarify the oil to ensure you receive the best product. No chemicals or heat are used in any stage of the extraction process.

A Constantly Evolving Process

Through the years, the process of manufacturing virgin coconut oil has gone through many changes and innovations. Cold pressed coconut oils, though they realize the highest yield of any of the methods of producing coconut oil, often had a toasted coconut flavor because of high heat or became rancid tasting because of oxidized proteins that remained in the oil.

The best manufacturing technique — and the one that we use at Wildly Organic — is simply outstanding. It allows for the production of raw, unrefined cold pressed coconut oil which does not contain any of the microscopic proteins that many manufacturers are still struggling to overcome.

How to Choose a Virgin Coconut Oil

The choice between our unheated coconut oils is very individual, but we thought we’d share some general observations to help you select the perfect oil.

Similarities Between the Oils

Our organic unrefined coconut oil and Centrifuge Extracted Extra Virgin Coconut Oil both melt in your mouth with a pleasantly mild coconut flavor, and both have very low moisture content and very long shelf life. Neither one of our two virgin coconut oils is heated during any of the processes involved.

Recommended Uses for Each of the Oils

We recommend our cold pressed coconut oil for use in raw treats, baking, and other cooking applications, and our centrifuge-extracted coconut oil for a variety of applications — including homemade personal care and beauty products.

Note:

Please note that your coconut oil may be in a liquid or solid form when it arrives. Coconut oil has a melting point of 76 degrees Fahrenheit and will solidify once it cools down again. This phenomenon is completely normal and does not qualify the product for a return or refund.

Wildly Organic Cold Pressed Coconut Oil arrives ready-to-use in 14 fluid ounce, 28 fluid ounce, and 64 fluid ounce glass jars with metal lids. 1 gallon and 5 gallon come in plastic pails. Pail openers are highly recommended for easy access.

Our organic unrefined coconut oil will make an excellent addition to your kitchen. Read the FAQs below to learn more and choose your family’s wellness today!

What Is Virgin Coconut Oil Good For?

Virgin oils of coconut are rich in nutrients such as short-chain fatty acids, lauric acid, vitamin E, and polyphenols which support your health in many ways. You can use it as a moisturizing body and hair oil, as an antibacterial topical solution, and as a general cooking oil.

What Is the Difference Between Coconut Oil and Cold Pressed Coconut Oil?

Unlike other coconut oils which are extracted using heat or chemical treatment, unrefined cold pressed coconut oil is extracted directly from the dehydrated meat of the coconut using a machine, resulting in a better taste and nutritional value.

Can I Use Virgin Coconut Oil on My Hair and Skin?

Yes, you can use this coconut oil on your hair and skin to reap its many benefits. However, virgin cold-pressed oils typically have a strong flavor and aroma which may be a little overwhelming for some people. If you need something subtle, centrifuge-extracted coconut oil may be a better choice for you.

Is Cold Pressed Coconut Oil Good for Cooking?

Cold-pressed virgin coconut oil is an excellent choice for cooking dishes in which you need a pronounced coconut flavor and aroma such as Gluten-Free Goji Berry Granola, Almond Coconut Cookies, and Grain-Free Peanut Butter Brownie Bars. You can even add it to your morning cup of coffee!
