Predominantly grown in Brazil these nuts are only harvested once a year, in late fall. Because of this, Wilderness Family Naturals does everything possible to ensure these nuts maintain their "just picked" goodness. Since they contain Omega-3 fatty acids, they are always refrigerated, both before and after they are soaked and dehydrated. They are then packaged in a vapor barrier bag which protects the nuts from sunlight and moisture. In addition, each batch is tested to ensure low moisture content, which reduces their propensity towards rancidity.
These Certified Organic Brazil Nuts have been soaked as Sally Fallon and the Weston A. Price Foundation suggests, and then dehydrated at low temperatures.
Our Brazil Nuts are fresh, flavorful and delicious. We do our best to procure the highest quality nuts available. They are soaked and dried under controlled conditions with commercial equipment in a USDA inspected kitchen. We take extra measures, such as refrigeration and vapor barrier packaging to insure that you receive only the best.
In July 2003, the FDA released a qualified health claim stating "Scientific evidence suggests, but does not prove, that eating 1.5 ounces per day of most nuts, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease."
