Oregon Grape is native to North America and can be found growing up to 7,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains. It is most abundant in Oregon and northern California. It’s an evergreen shrub that grows up to six feet and produces small flowers and purple berries in the fall. Used interchangeably with Barberry, Oregon grape is thought to be the stronger of the two species. Native Americans used this root for appetite loss and other things.
