Product Description
Licorice is native to the Mediterranean and the Middle East, but it’s been cultivated in Europe since the 16th century and now worldwide. It grows best next to ditches and calm streams at altitudes between 1,000 and 9,000 feet. Licorice is surprisingly part of the pea family and grows in vast colonies connected by creeping rootstalk that can spread out over three feet. The plant can grow up to six feet tall and has dark leaves with flowers similar to a clover. The roots are easily harvested because they don’t grow deeply below the surface. Ancient Assyrians and Egyptians used licorice to treat various respiratory conditions. In the US, 90% of the wild root is used for flavoring. Licorice candy in the US is flavored with anise and not licorice root.

The Best

After a year, maybe two, the tea that I made with chamomille has proved "a great benefit". I make this LICORICE TEA before bed, and sip on it every two hours, (nature calls). This great tasting tea minimizes my throat problems and promotes sound sleep.
